Which Strength Exercises Should Wrestlers Do? Part 8

by Stephen R. Santangelo
Wrestling and all grappling sports need explosive strength.
Plyometrics are some of the more popular methods.
Here, at Primal, we combine plyometrics and leverage training into one exercise.
The Pullover Jump Swing is a Primal exclusive and has been very effective developing explosive strength.
In the video an MMA trainee is using this method.
The mace weighs 10kg and is 54 inches long, which is just heavy enough for this particular athlete not to simply pull the mace overhead with the arms.
Watch how the athlete must use his back to draw power from and the need to explosively jump to gain momentum.
This exercise is to be performed for maximum power, so be sure you’re rested between single repetitions.
This exercise is not designed to build endurance, only speed & strength which equates to power in the cage or on the matte.
